§ 3106. Justices of the Supreme Court

TITLE 9: VEHICLE CODE DIVISION 3: INSPECTION OF VEHICLES § 3106. Safety Inspections: On the Road Inspections. Any on-duty policy officer may, when he has reasonable cause to believe that a vehicle is unsafe or not equipped as prescribed by law, order the owner or operator of the vehicle to submit the vehicle to an inspection. If the vehicle does not comply with lawfully prescribed safety and equipment requirements, the officer may proceed under 9 CMC § 3104(b), or issue a citation for a specific violation of applicable law, depending on the nature of the equipment or safety deficiency and whether the operating condition of the vehicle is so unsafe as to be a hazard to the public. The director, upon the Governor’s approval, may conduct a road block for the purpose of ensuring all vehicles operated in the Commonwealth are safe and equipped as prescribed by law.
