§ 322. Special Days- -Ha’anen Retiru.-
TITLE 1: GENERAL PROVISIONS § 322. Special Days: “Ha’anen Retiru.” (a) To honor those individuals who retired after lengthy service to the Com- monwealth government or its predecessors, the first Sunday of October is hereby designated as “Ha’anen Retiru.” (b) The Governor of the Commonwealth shall announce annually the ob- servance of the first Sunday in October as Ha’anen Retiru with an appropriate proclamation and ceremony. Source: PL 3-34, §§ 3, 4. Commission Comment: PL 3-34, the “‘Ha’anen Retiru’ Act of 1982,” took effect December 14, 1982. According to PL 3-34, § 2: “The purpose of this Act is to have a special day of each year set aside to properly bestow honor in recognition of those individuals who served the Government of the Northern Mariana Islands or its predecessors who are now retired.”
