§ 428. Administrative Building- Honorable Juan Atalig Sablan Memorial Building
TITLE 1: GENERAL PROVISIONS § 428. Administration Building; Honorable Juan Atalig Sablan Memori- al Building. (a) Naming. The former Trust Territory Central Government of the Pacific Island Headquarters now the seat of the CNMI Governor and Lt. Governor is hereby renamed the “Honorable Juan Atalig Sablan Memorial Building.” (b) Dedication. The Governor, in consultation with the family of the late Hon- orable Juan Atalig Sablan, shall prepare a plan of dedication within a reasonable time after the effective date of Public Law 11-16. The purpose of this Act is to rename the ADMINISTRATION BUILDING at Capitol Hill the “HONORABLE JUAN ATALIG SABLAN MEMORIAL BUILDING,” in honor of the late Juan Atalig Sablan, the first Micronesian of Chamorro ancestry appointed by President Jimmy Carter in January 1978 as Deputy High Commissioner, Trust Territory Central Government of the Pacific Islands which comprised of the Marshall Islands, Ponape, Kosrae, Truk, Yap, Palau, and the Northern Mariana Islands from 1978 to 1981.
