§ 437. Rota- International Airport
TITLE 1: GENERAL PROVISIONS § 437. Rota: International Airport. (a) The Rota International Airport located in Sinapalo Village. Rota is hereby renamed as the “Benjamin Taisacan Manglona International Airport” in recognition and appreciation of his untiring and outstanding public service, dedication, and contributions to the island and people of Rota, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. (b) The Mayor of Rota, in coordination with the Commonwealth Ports Authority, shall prepare a plan of dedication within sixty days from the effective date of this section. Commission Comment: Public Law 17-53, effective September 26, 2011, dedicated the airport in Rota to Honorable Benjamin Taisacan Manglona, “a great leader and a great public servant” who during “the Commonwealth and Rota’s economic, social, and political triumphs and struggles over the past 50 years … looms prominently among the Commonwealth’s great leaders.” PL 17-53 § 1. The Honorable Benjamin Taisacan Manglona served Rota and the CNMI in various capacities, including Vice-President to the First CNMI Con- stitutional Convention of 1976, CNMI Lt. Governor, Senate President and Mayor of Rota.
