§ 438. Rota- Harbor Island Park
TITLE 1: GENERAL PROVISIONS § 438. Rota: Harbor Island Park. (a) The small island near Tweksberry Beach Park is hereby named the “Mayor Prudencio Taisacan Manglona Harbor Island Park.” (b) The Mayor of Rota shall, in consultation and coordination with the hon- oree’s daughter, prepare and carry out an official dedication ceremony befitting the intent and purpose of the Senate Commemorative Resolution [SCR 18-18] and given effect herein. The official dedication shall comport with appropriate official protocols and decorum that signifies the honor and solemnity that is consistent with the intent of the Senate Commemorative Resolution and the effect given herein. The Mayor of Rota shall carry out within thirty days follow- ing the effective date of this Act the intent and purposes of this Act. (c) The Rota Legislative Delegation directs and authorizes the Mayor of Rota to use his official representation allowance to purchase and install a permanent bronze plate bearing the name of “Mayor Prudencio Taisacan Manglona Harbor Island Park.” On the plate shall also bear the date May 27, 1934, all of which shall be permanently inscribed and the plate placed on a concrete pedestal. The pedestal shall be located on the main entrance to the small island facing east. Further, the Mayor of Rota and the Rota Municipal Council are hereby officially requested to join host a light reception with the Rota Legislative Delegation on the date of the dedication ceremony. The Mayor of Rota and Rota Municipal Council are further authorized to mobilize all other resources necessary to carry out forthwith the intent and purpose of this Act. The Commission moved a period in- side a quotation mark in subsection (c) pursuant to 1 CMC § 3806(g). RLL 18- 16 (Aug. 29, 2014) contained, in addition to savings and severability clauses, the following Findings section: Section 1. Findings. The Rota Legislative Delegation finds it proper and fitting to memorialize the life and times of Honorable Prudencio Taisacan Manglona for nearly 40 years of public service to the people and community of Rota and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands as chronicled in Senate Commemorative Resolution 18-18, and given effect in this local legislative enactment, on the occasion of former Mayor Prudencio T. Manglona’s eightieth day on May 27, 2014.
