§ 5103. Mayor- Vacancy in Office
TITLE 9: VEHICLE CODE DIVISION 5: RULES OF THE ROAD § 5103. Enforcement. (a) The operator of any vehicle shall stop upon the request or signal of any police officer in uniform who exhibits a badge or other sign of authority. Upon request or signal the operator shall exhibit, in addition to a license or permit as required by this title, his or her registration card. If requested, the person shall sign his or her name in the presence of the police officer for the purpose of establishing identity. (b) Any police officer who is in uniform or exhibits a badge or other sign of authority may stop any vehicle, upon request or signal, for the purpose of inspecting the vehicle as to its equipment and operation, manufacturer’s serial number, engine number or for securing of other lawful information. It is unlawful for any operator of any vehicle to refuse such requests. (c) Any police officer who is in uniform or exhibits a badge or other sign of authority may investigate any motor vehicle in any public garage or repair shop for the purpose of locating stolen motor vehicles and the owner or custodian of the garage or repair shop shall permit the investigation. (d) It is unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to refuse to comply with any lawful order, sign or direction of a police officer who is in uniform or who exhibits a badge or other sign of authority.
