§ 6609. Election Contest- Appeal
TITLE 1: GOVERNMENT DIVISION 6: ELECTIONS § 6609. Election Contest: Appeal. Any party aggrieved by the judgment of the Commonwealth superior Court may appeal to the Supreme Court of the Northern Mariana Islands as in other cases, except that from the day of judgment, the notice of appeal shall be filed within three (3) days, the applicant’s brief within ten (10) days, the appellee’s brief within fifteen (15) days, oral arguments shall be heard within twenty (20) days, and the appellate judgment shall be issued within thirty (30) days. During the pendency of proceedings on appeal, and until final determination thereof, the person declared elected by the Commonwealth Superior Court shall be entitled to the office in like manner as if no appeal had been taken. Any lawful action taken by the person in office is valid, even if that person is subsequently removed. Source: Repealed and reenacted by PL 12-18, § 2 (6609).
