TITLE 6: CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE DIVISION 6: CRIMINAL PROCEDURE § 6904. Official Investigation of Demand for Extradition. When a demand is made upon the Governor by the executive authority of a state for the surrender of a person charged with or convicted of a crime, the Governor may call upon the Attorney General to investigate or assist in investi- gating the demand and to report to the Governor the situation and circumstances of the person so demanded, and whether he or she ought to be surrendered.
