§ 7113. Applicability of the Code
TITLE 9: VEHICLE CODE DIVISION 7: SERIOUS TRAFFIC OFFENSES AND PENALTIES § 7113. Community Service. In any case where the prescribed penalty for a violation of any provision of this title is not more than $500 or not more than six months imprisonment or by both such fine and imprisonment, if the court finds that the nature or extent of the violation and the defendant’s circumstances warrant it, the court may impose in lieu of that penalty a requirement that the defendant perform, without any compensation, specified service to the community for a period of time commen- surate with the prescribed fine or imprisonment. “Community service” includes cleaning beaches, parks, highways or other public places, repair and renovation of public buildings and facilities, hospital, medical and educational services, and such other work or services that will benefit the community.
