§ 7144. Adoption of Other Codes; Modifications of Existing Codes
TITLE 2: NATURAL RESOURCES DIVISION 7: BUILDING AND ZONING CODES § 7144. Adoption of Other Codes; Modifications of Existing Codes. [Effective 180 days after Dec. 19, 2019, this section shall read as follows:] (a) The building safety official may adopt, as appropriate for the Northern Mariana Islands, other national and uniform codes and standards, or amendments to previously adopted codes and standards, covering energy conservation, termite protection of concrete structures, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning systems, boilers, water treatment plants, generators, and other such installations. The codes, standards, and amendments shall be listed in the regulations. Source: PL 6-45, § 1 (§ 7144); amended by PL 21-14, § 2 (Dec. 19, 2019). Prior to its amendment, this section included a subsection (b) which read as follows: (b) The building safety official shall recommend to the legislature appropriate modifications to be made in the Uniform Building Code and CABO Code adopted herein, in light of the experience of the official in providing for such modifications on a case by case basis under the provisions of 2 CMC § 7114.
