§ 7151. Availability of Predesigned Residential House Plans; Plan Review Service

TITLE 2: NATURAL RESOURCES DIVISION 7: BUILDING AND ZONING CODES § 7151. Availability of Predesigned Residential House Plans; Plan Review Service. (a) Within one year after February 2, 1990, and from time to time as funds are available and as design theory evolves and new technologies become available or more cost effective, the building safety official shall officially endorse and to the extent feasible cause to be designed and engineered various model plans for single-family dwellings, which shall be available free of charge, except for the cost of reproduction, to any member of the public. (b) The plans shall particularly emphasize inexpensive but efficient design and construction techniques, practicality for the owner-builder; suitability for the environmental conditions prevalent in the Northern Marianas, and low energy and water consumption. (c) The plans shall meet all requirements of this building safety code and the minimum requirements of the CABO Code, as modified by regulation of the Building Safety Division. The plans shall be certified by Commonwealth registered professional architects and engineers and shall be eligible for immedi- ate issuance of a building permit. (d) The Building Safety Division shall provide a free plan review service for owner-builders of residential buildings such that upon application for a permit, the owner-builder may obtain advice and guidance in practical, low-cost, envi- ronmentally suitable design, construction, and energy and water conservation techniques and technologies which can be incorporated into the dwelling.
