§ 301. Attempts
TITLE 6: CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE GENERAL PROVISIONS § 301. Attempts. (a) A person commits the offense of attempt if, with intent to commit an of- fense, he does an overt act which constitutes a substantial step in a course of conduct planned to culminate in the commission of that offense. (b) It is an affirmative defense to a charge of attempt that the offense was not committed because the defendant desisted voluntarily and in good faith aban- doned his or her intention to commit the offense without causing any of the effects proscribed by this title.
