§ 5354. Conduct of Operators on Approach of Authorized Emergency Vehicles
TITLE 9: VEHICLE CODE DIVISION 5: RULES OF THE ROAD § 5354. Conduct of Operators on Approach of Authorized Emergency Vehicles. Upon the immediate approach of an authorized emergency vehicle sounding a siren or having at least one lighted light exhibiting red or blue light visible under normal atmospheric conditions from a distance of 500 feet to the front of the vehicle the operators of all other vehicles shall yield the right of way and shall immediately drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the right- hand edge or curb of the highway clear of any intersection, stop, and remain in that position until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer.
