§ 5814. Tethering of Animals Near a Public Highway

TITLE 9: VEHICLE CODE DIVISION 5: RULES OF THE ROAD § 5814. Tethering of Animals Near a Public Highway. No person may tether or tie on a rope any cattle, goats, pigs or other livestock or domesticated animals within 20 feet from either edge of any public highway. Source: PL 4-57, § 2. Commission Comment: PL 4-57 took effect September 10, 1985. Accord- ing to PL 4-57, § 1: “The purpose of this Act is to promote traffic safety or re- duce the number of domesticated animals standing or moving on or near public roads or highways[,] thus causing great hazard to traffic.”
